CHRONICLES OF THE
FORGOTTEN GENOCIDE
The Kissinger Doctrine
Written and Directed by
Ramesh Sharma
Synopsis
Chronicles of the Forgotten Genocide – The Kissinger Doctrine” is a gripping documentary feature film that unearths the hidden history of a long-ignored, yet bone-chilling impact of US foreign policy decisions. Through meticulous research, archival footage, and poignant interviews with survivors and historians, the film meticulously reconstructs the devastating events that transpired, revealing the catastrophic consequences of geopolitical strategies and the profound human cost paid in silence. It’s a powerful and unsettling journey into the past, aimed at unearthing obscured history and demanding accountability
– Edward Said
NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR – Ramesh Sharma
Chronicles of the Forgotten Genocide – The Kissinger Doctrine confronts one of modern history’s darkest chapters—the genocide that led to the birth of Bangladesh in 1971. It was a catastrophe witnessed, documented, and then abandoned by a world unwilling to challenge its own complicity. At the center of this moral failure stands the doctrine of American exceptionalism, a creed that has repeatedly justified imperial interference and human suffering in pursuit of power.
Our investigation exposes how U.S. policy under Henry Kissinger and Richard Nixon aligned with the Pakistan Army’s brutal campaign. This alignment was not an aberration but part of a deliberate imperial design—where domination was masked as diplomacy. From the jungles of Vietnam to the streets of Dhaka and Santiago, this film traces how the same logic—power before principle, alliances before lives—has enabled some of the most heinous crimes against humanity.
The documentary also reflects on the haunting aftermath: the 1975 assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Was this another echo of the same imperial machinery that once turned its back on genocide? Drawing on meticulous investigations by journalists Lawrence Lifschultz, Kai Bird, and Roger Morris, we reopen the archive of suppressed truths.
This film is not a historical retelling—it is a reckoning with empire. It challenges the self-righteous myth of American exceptionalism and exposes how moral silence continues to sanction violence. History’s forgotten genocides are not forgotten at all—they are repeated.
from Vietnam to Chile—a blueprint of covert regime change repeated again and again.

Why This Film, Why Now
As great-power rivalry intensifies and civilian harm escalates in conflicts worldwide, the ethical fault lines exposed in 1971 feel urgently relevant. The film offers a clear, accessible framework for understanding how policy language can normalize catastrophe and why remembering matters for law, diplomacy, human rights and geopolitical architecture is critical.
“This story is a reckoning. It confronts the cost of strategy when human lives are reduced to abstractions. By placing survivors beside the historical record, we challenge the narratives that minimized their suffering and ask what responsibility looks like—then and now.”

Producer - Emerging From The Earth Studio
Emerging from the Earth was founded in 2017 by filmmakers Nitin Upadhye and Yamini Upadhye. Our primary goal is to showcase our work while also providing an online platform for our ongoing Sustainable Development initiative in the Konkan region of Maharashtra.
At Emerging from the Earth, we believe that it is our responsibility to address the challenges facing humanity today. We collaborate with local communities to produce chemical-free food using sustainable and nutritious farming methods that conserve biodiversity and preserve the Earth’s health. Our focus is on empowering local women to innovate and collaborate on these solutions in their own backyards.
To achieve this, we provide access to expert advice, institutional research findings, and knowledge on novel technologies, along with farm-produced organic fertilizers such as vermicompost and vermiculture. We also offer routine physical visits from experts at no cost to help local farmers grow food that is both ecologically sound and economically valuable. We ensure that 60-70% of the returns from our proceeds go directly to the growers, while the rest goes back into building support for the community.
Our approach is centered on the idea that genuine food sustainability can only be achieved when each participant in the food chain has serious concerns for one another and benefits from each other’s contributions. By fostering a deep sense of community and empowering individuals to take action, we are creating a movement of self-empowerment that is shining a light on human beings’ innate desire to do good, for themselves and others.

Nitin Upadhye:
As a young boy, he wandered the Sahyadris, scaling mountains and forts, wading through rivers and deep forests, often staying away for days. Photography was his calling, and he quickly became recognized as a “gifted” photographer. He pursued his passion in Mumbai, training under some of the country’s most respected photographers before venturing out on his own, seamlessly navigating the worlds of documentary, advertising, fashion, and fine art photography. His work has graced the pages of leading global print brands, earning critical acclaim and even being named among “the world’s best 100” lists.
With the shift from celluloid to digital, he naturally transitioned to motion camera work, collaborating with renowned directors, filmmakers, and content creators worldwide.
When not on a shoot, you’ll find him working alongside farmers, advocating for sustainable farming practices, or traveling to far-flung corners of the world to empower underprivileged youth through visual arts and life-skills workshops.
